Le pauvre Dionis

Lumea-i visul sufletului nostru. Nu există nici timp, nici spaţiu - ele sunt numai în sufletul nostru.

Proza lui Eminescu este romantică, la fel ca și poezia.Eminescu aduce în epocă, prin proza sa, dimensiunea visului romantic și cugetarea filozofică.Proza eminesciană este prin excelență lirică.

Nuvela Sărmanul Dionis este romantică, aducând eroi excepționali pe care îi transpune în împrejurări excepționale.Călugărul Dan, din timpul lui Alexandru cel Bun, devine, prin reîncarnare, deci metempsihoză, Dionis.La îndemnul rabinului Ruben, devenit prin metamorfoză demon, Dan face greșeala de a răsfoi o carte magică.

Tema, eroii, conflictul și subiectul sunt structurate pe conceptul de lume ca vis, existând o continuă alternare de planuri între realitate și vis.

Fantasticul, o trăsătură a romantismului, îl regăsim la Eminescu și în nuvelele Cezara, Avatarii Faraonului Tla, Arhaeus, insă în Sărmanul Dionis regăsim și o evaziune în trecutul istoric, fiindcă același personaj Dionis-Dan trăiește în două lumi paralele, puse față în față prin intermediul contrastului.

Arhaeul lui Dionis reușește să se sublinieze într-o imagine romantică.El duce un dialog cu tatăl său, al cărui chip iese din tablou, ceea ce îi aduce o alunecare extatică în vis.În același timp, Călugărul Dan trăiește în vis o prefigurare a vieții sale viitoare, ca Dionis.

Poezia inserată în cadrul textului conține, de fapt, mesajul sub forma unei meditații pe tema destinului.

Nuvela are ca nucleu epic o carte, Arhitecturae cosmicae sive geometricae compendium, un tratat de astrologie, caruia îi sunt anexate un zodiac, sentințe grecești, tâlcuiri de vise, o schemă mistică cu calcule geometrice și care are la urmă o imagine a Sfântului Gheorghe nimicind balaurul, ceea ce simbolizează adevărul nimicind neștiința.

Autorul caută să găsească planuri narative care să îi exprime ideea: Lumea-i visul sufletului nostru. Este un mod platonic de a concepe lumea sub forma a trei dimensiuni.

Lumea ideilor eterne (eidos), a modelelor, lumea creată, materială, pe care o percepem cu simțurile noastre și in același timp nu-i decât o copie a modelelor eterne.

Apoi este prezentă lumea artelor, o copie a lumii simțurilor.Conceptul de corespondentă este văzut din perspectiva: reflectarea cerului înstelat într-un strop de rouă.Prezent în text, conceptul de lume ca univers al afectului, sugerează tema, eroii, subiectul, dându-le totodată o dezvoltare romantică.

Conceptul de lume ca număr este prezent in Cartea lui Zoroastru.Omul este un număr într-un șir, Dumnezeu este definit de rabinul Ruben-diavol ca fiind toate timpurile și toate neamurile.Este o concepție panteistă, care confundă creația cu Creatorul.

Nuvela este una onirică, reprezentând o meditație de teme și motive filosofice, redate sub un aspect romantico-fantastic, cu metamorfoze și metempsihoze.

♠ Câţi oameni sunt într-un singur om? Tot atâţia câte stele sunt cuprinse într-o picătură de rouă sub cerul cel limpede al nopţii.

♠ Sufletul călătoreşte din veac în veac, acelaşi suflet, numai că moartea-l face să uite că a mai trăit.

♠ În adâncurile sufletului coborându-ne, am putea trăi aievea în trecut şi am putea locui lumea stelelor şi a soarelui.

♠ Nu e adevărat că există un trecut - consecutivitatea e în cugetarea noastră - cauzele fenomenelor, consecutive pentru noi, aceleaşi întotdeauna, există şi lucrează mereu.
